Improving Rural Connectivity through Gramin Gaurav Path

The project titled Construction of Various CC Roads under Gramin Gaurav Path RJ-30-01/GGP/Plan/2014-15 was undertaken in Sirohi District, Rajasthan, to enhance rural connectivity through permanent and weather-resistant concrete road construction.

With a total completion cost of ₹5.36 crore, the initiative was part of the Gramin Gaurav Path (GGP) program—aimed at developing village-level infrastructure to provide smooth and reliable access within and between rural settlements.

Scope and Nature of Work

Scope and Nature of Work

The project involved the construction of cement concrete (CC) roads across rural stretches under Division Sirohi to improve surface quality and ensure all-weather connectivity. The works included preparation of the subgrade and base, followed by laying of M-30 grade CC pavement as per design specifications.

Side drains, shoulders, and finishing works such as edge protection and approach leveling were also provided for proper drainage and smoother movement within village limits. These roads replaced deteriorated earthen and WBM surfaces, reducing maintenance needs and improving long-term usability.

Execution Standards and Quality Assurance

The works were executed under the technical supervision of the Public Works Department (PWD), Sirohi Division, following state-level Gramin Gaurav Path specifications.

Each stage of construction—material selection, batching, laying, and curing—was closely monitored to ensure compliance with IRC and MORTH standards.

On-site quality control included cube testing of concrete, surface level checks, and compaction verification to ensure structural integrity and long service life of the newly built CC roads.

Outcome and Community Impact

Outcome and Community Impact

Completed at a total cost of ₹5.36 crore, the project delivered durable CC roads across several villages of Sirohi district, significantly improving local transportation and access to essential services. The upgraded infrastructure has enhanced year-round connectivity, reduced dust and maintenance issues, and improved rural mobility—benefiting residents, schools, and agricultural transport. This Gramin Gaurav Path project stands as a key step toward rural modernization, promoting safety, accessibility, and infrastructure resilience across the Sirohi region.

Field Challenges and Execution Approach

Executing multiple road segments across rural terrain required effective coordination, resource planning, and adaptation to variable soil and access conditions.

Construction teams worked around existing village layouts, local traffic, and service utilities, ensuring minimum disruption to daily movement and public convenience.

The phased execution approach allowed continuous progress while maintaining safety and accessibility for residents throughout the project period.
