Fortifying the Indo–Pak Border with Engineered Defence Works

The project for Construction of Earthen Bund, Road and Naka cum Machan cum Fighting Bunker along existing fencing at I.B. in Jammu Sector was executed under the Border Security Force (BSF) to enhance India’s defensive preparedness and surveillance capabilities.

Covering the stretch from BOP Chandwan to BOP Paharpur, this ₹72.19 crore initiative created a continuous defensive barrier system integrating an earthen bundh cum ditch cum road to serve both as a physical obstruction and a mobility corridor for security forces.

Engineering Precision in High-Security Terrain

Working in the sensitive Indo–Pak border zone required meticulous planning, technical expertise, and synchronized execution under strict BSF supervision. The scope included large-scale earthwork for embankment formation, construction of ditches for intrusion control, and formation of an all-weather road to ensure continuous mobility of patrol and response units.

The addition of Naka cum Machan cum Fighting Bunkers provided elevated observation and fortified posts, enhancing field visibility and immediate defense readiness. All components were designed to withstand regional terrain, climatic stresses, and security demands.

Technical Execution and Strategic Impact

Advanced soil compaction, drainage management, and geotechnical stabilization methods were employed to ensure long-term structural stability of the bundh and ditch system across varying ground profiles.

The integrated layout connected defensive structures seamlessly with bituminous roadways for efficient movement, machan-type observation points for surveillance, and reinforced bunkers for frontline deployment.

Executed with precision coordination between BSF and CPWD, the project reflects India’s commitment to strengthening its western border through resilient, multi-layered infrastructure that supports both tactical defense and operational logistics.
